NIELIT: National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (Formerly DOEACC Society) is an autonomous body under the Department of I.T., Ministry of Communications and I.T., Government of India offering four levels of govt. certified computer courses. These include ‘O' as foundation level, ‘A' as advanced level, ‘B' as MCA level and ‘C' as M. Tech. level programme. The admission to one year ‘O' level programme starts after 10 + 2.
The objective of NIELIT Scheme (that is a joint scheme of AICTE and Ministry of I.T. Govt of India ) is to train and produce quality I.T. manpower to fulfill the escalating demand of the industries for I.T. professionals worldwide. NIELIT qualifications are endorsed by the software industry through NASSCOM (National Association of Software Services Companies) and accepted by government and public sectors, banks and various national and multinational companies for employment.
The 'A' level examination is recognized by the Japan Information Technology Engineering examination centre (JITEC), Govt. of Japan who deems it equivalent to its corresponding skill standard examination. Thus, NIELIT ‘A'/'B' level qualifiers are fully eligible to apply for working visas to Japan and in Japanese MNCs across the world.
The NIELIT O' level, offered by LNIT to career conscious 10+2/undergraduates, provides necessary I.T. skills required in all career streams. It is a launching pad for lucrative careers in 'O' level leads to progressively advanced courses such as 'A' and 'B' (MCA) levels. It also lays down the foundation for premier international I.T. certifications from world leaders such as Cisco, Oracle, Red Hat and Microsoft. These certifications lead to superspecialization in high-demand niche fields of networking, database administration, open source technology and software development. Whether one desires to superspecialize in I.T. or just needs basic I.T. skills for career-specific requirements, 'O' level becomes a must-do course for every student post 10+2.
This course is designed to aim at imparting a basic level IT Literacy programme for the common man. This programme has essentially been conceived with an idea of giving an opportunity to the common man to attain computer literacy thereby contributing to increased and speedy PC penetration in different walks of life. After completing the course the incumbent should be able to the use the computer for basic purposes of preparing his personnel/business letters, viewing information on internet (the web), receiving and sending mails, preparing his business presentations, preparing small databases etc. This helps the small business communities, housewives, etc. to maintain their small accounts using the computers and enjoy in the world of Information Technology. This course is, therefore, designed to be more practical oriented.
The NIELIT 'A' level is an advanced level standard computer course. This is a part of the 4-tier scheme of AICTE and Deptt. of I.T., Govt. of India which makes it a valuable asset in the job-market. 'A' level is an excellent option for 'O' level holders and/or undergraduate students. It can be done alongside regular college classes for B.A./B.Com/B.Sc. etc. Thus by the time the graduation course gets completed, the 'A' level holder is ready to secure a good place in the job market. 'A' level is the shortest & quickest route for a prosperous career in I.T. industry. Also, 'A' level can act as a base to acquire globally valued I.T. certifications of I.T. majors such as Cisco, RedHat, Oracle and Microsoft. These certifications lead to super specialized skills in niche areas of networking, open sources, database administration and software development - all with excellent growth possibilities across the globe.
